UK Tuition Guardians recognise our®≥ moral and statutory reφ€♦sponsibility to safeguard and promote the welfar÷✔♠e of all children. We acknowledge that “it could ✔Ωhappen here”. We makeε≥ every effort to ensure that students and × adults feel safe, secure, valued ™≤↕δand respected, and feel confident to tal✔≤'k if they are worried, believing t™Ωδhey will be effectively liste•¶↓ned to.
The purpose of this policy is to provid∑•≠e staff, volunteers and homestays wiλ★ th the framework they need in order to§φ ε keep children safe and↓© secure whilst they are£α§ in our care. The po><licy also informs parentπσs, agents and partner schools how®∑ ' we will safeguard their chi¶♣ ldren whilst they are in our care.
This policy is based on guidance from the most♠> recent versions of KCSIE and Working Together to Safeguard Children. It also makes use of guidance from the NSPCC✔> website.

• Homestays and transfer compa$β®≥nies provide a safe and secu≠ →≈re environment for
all students;≥©
• All students feel safe, secur'↓e and protected from harm;
• All students know who to turn±€& to for help, advice or support, can acceΩ÷ss
services confidentially, quickly and eaΩ"✘sily and have access to 24-hour support;
• The Director of the company ha☆♥Ω₩s overall responsibility and accountabil€☆≈ity for
the safeguar↓>ding and welfare of the students;
• All staff, homestays and♠≤ volunteers share in the responsibility to pro®π"tect
students from harm, remain vigilant in ide×γntifying safeguarding and child
protec± tion issues and to follow policies and procedure¶↕÷s relating to
safeg©&©uarding and child protecti≥πon;
• Students and staff have effective means by wh♣♠λich they can raise child protection
concerns or∞® report issues;
• Staff have at least one reliable means to con →↕tact all students quickly and
direσ>ctly;
• Staff are aware of the medical or l∞↓♠Ωearning needs of individual students via
t<∑✘he Student Record and these are απshared with the home≠×¥stay on a need to know
basis;
• In cases where the whereabouts of a student uδ∞nder UK Tuition Guardians is not
know÷€∑n or the student is beli≈©¶eved to be at risk of ha$♦rm, procedures to locate
the student by the saf↔≥est and quickest means possible, or ≤¶secure the safety of
the student w↓'←₹ill be invoked immediately by following ↔γλ®the Missing Student policy;
• The company has procedures in p"×lace that enable child protectio★™∞n concerns and
incidents to be dealt w™≠≈ ith promptly and effective≤β<ly and in line with relevant
legi↓↔≈∑slation.
UK Tuition Guardians is committed to the pr≠₽otection of all children in ↕≈its care. We are committed to safeguarding '™≈student welfare and undertake rigorous♦§ checks on all who work with us and we ®✔≈∏expect all staff, volunteers "'and homestays to share this commitment.
Safeguarding students is the respons₹♣Ω∏ibility of us all, in" ↔☆cluding full-time, part-time, contracted, a₹→gency and volunteer staff i ₽±ncluding those who do not have cause to come in♥∞×to direct or regular ↕•contact with students in ™σorder to carry out their daily duties. It also a ™pplies to those who provide≤ ☆★ homestay accommodat$✔ion for our students an<πφ↔d third party contractors.
Where there is a safeguarding concern U₩₽K Tuition Guardians will ensureλ¶✔ the child’s wishes aλ♥>nd feelings are taken into¶™$ account when determining what action to take♥← and what services to provide. We provide clear™ information for students in the student ₹₹handbook. We check that students underφα✔₽stand the information and are comfortable "φabout how they can raise a concern. ¥φWe explain how concerns will be treated seriouΩ↕≤sly, and that students can safely express ↔∑their views and give feedback.
All staff and homestays should be aware that ∏children may not feel ready or kn↔'$∞ow how to tell someone that they are bei∞×ng abused, exploited, or ne¶ ☆δglected, and/or they may not reε₹cognise their experiences asα harmful. This should not prevent staff from ↑₽₹having a professional curiosity and speakin™§∑g to the DSL if they have conc≈♠erns about a child.
It is important that st"₽₽aff and homestays determine how best ♠δπto build trusted relat≈★ionships with children and you♥ ←ng people which facilitate cφ¶ommunication
The safety and welfare of children, or &↓∏←Child Protection, means protecting children fr♦↔om physical, emotiona ©l or sexual abuse or neglect where there is a•'n identified risk. Safegua ☆ rding is the minimisation of<λ✘ the risk to children from all forms of chi✔→¶ld abuse including for ex≤ample:

· • Child on child abuse
· •Radicalisation and extremis×←≥™m
· •Female genital mutilation
· •Physical, emotional, sexual¶™∞£ abuse or neglect
· • Domestic abuse
· •Online abuse
· • Bullying and cyber bullying
We aim to ensure that the stude$π÷nts in our care experience at all times a c>$§aring and secure environment ✔≈πin which they feel safe, respected and&₩ valued.
In pursuit of this aim,§→> UK Tuition Guardiaφδ∑ns undertakes the foΩ÷★llowing:
1. We ensure that we lea€™πd from the top by ensuring that♦™ our [owner/ director] has ×←∞the appropriate safeguardφ♦¥ing knowledge and involvement in the pr÷£αocedures we have in place. This includes £→having oversight of arrangements★₹.
2. Training is provided for all staff and homestays♦←γ to a level appropriate for their rol✔ e (see training section be♣≠low);
3. We promote an environment of trust, o∞∑penness and clear communication b>→Ωetween students, scho↕£ol and UK Tuition Guardians staff and ou↕'r Homestays, so that student welfar ¶φe, safety and pastoral care is®↕∏ recognised as the top p♥π↑riority;
4. We respond to any reported allegation or s¥π↑₹uspicion of child abuse in accordance with the §∞×★UK Tuition Guardians procedures as outli ∏ned below;
5. We ensure that all guardianship personnel, ho§λ✘mestays and personnel offering outsourced servicδ&★es who come into direct ↔©>contact with students in our care, are recruite€d using safer recruitment practices and are f₩ormally screened through the completion ¶ ♦₩of an enhanced DBS check;
6. We maintain links with the appropriate agγ&•encies who have a statutory responsibility to dea₩€l with child welfare and child protection con<←cerns.
